Amazon

Amazon

Last week, Amazon, the US retail giant announced that it would be opening its first African office in South Africa with a real estate investment of over 4 billion rand ($280 million) spread across 70,000 square meters (17.3 Acres) of land on the outskirts of the city center. The building project is expected to roll out in phases, with construction set to take place over a period of three to five years. The project is expected to create up to 19,000 indirect and induced jobs.

Amazon already launched its data centres for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in cape town but its E-commerce services had until now, not been available in Africa. This development ushers an immense growth and globalization opportunity for Africa.
